Over the past few weeks I've made a lot of progress with my Cigar Box Guitar. I've cut the neck of the guitar to size and smoothed out the edges so it will be comfortable to play. Over the span of two days I cut out two notches in my cigar box for the neck to fit in, with a coping saw, and carved out parts of the neck that come in contact with the body so that everything fits snugly. I have also drilled out three holes in close to the end of the neck to put the tuning pegs in. Once I did that I used small screws to secure them. I then glued the neck into my cigar box body and let it sit for a couple hours in a C-clamp.
Next I drilled three holes at the other end of my guitar next that were more or less spaced evenly apart. I used the drill to drill the holes in at an angle and then picked out three different types of strings of varying thicknesses. I threaded the strings through the holes and tightened them with the tuning pegs.

We haven't had a lot of time to build since I last updated what I've done so far, however I still made some progress. I had to take the strings out of my guitar so that I could work with the frets, nut, and bridge. We used two screws as the nut and bolt. I cut of the heads off with a coping saw so that their length matched the width of the guitar neck.
I also marked where I'm going to place them. Next I used a fret calculator to determine where I needed to place each fret along the neck of the guitar based on its scale length (27.5in). I used a pencil to mark these spots and then shallowly cut each one with a coping saw. I also started to file down these cuts so that I can glue in small nails so that I will have metal frets. That's all I've done so far.
Below are some pictures of the overall building process:
